Briksmax vs Lightailing
Start with the installation method. Then compare the exact kit for your LEGO set.

The main difference
Lightailing’s own comparison describes its Lightailing kits as having pre-connected LEDs, while Briksmax kits use separate lighting components that the builder connects. That makes the connection process a useful starting point when choosing. The article was published in 2021; it is background on the two approaches, not a specification for every current kit. Read the manufacturer’s comparison.
Our recommendation: if you want fewer individual connections, look for a kit explicitly described as pre-wired. If you want to arrange components yourself, inspect the Briksmax kit’s parts list and wiring steps. We have not measured installation time, wire visibility or reliability for either brand.
Compare versions, not just brand names
The current Lightailing FAQ lists variants including Briksmax 2.0, remote-control, RGB and sensor editions. Those features are product-specific. A brand name alone does not tell you whether a remote, dimming or colour controls are included.
For a concrete example, our Notre-Dame 21061 guide separates Lightailing’s standard LGK660 from its remote-control LGK660_2. Comparing the wrong version can obscure the very feature you want.
Check the connector generation
Briksmax lists a V1-to-V2 connector converter for older and newer components. The listing says it changes connector compatibility, not brightness or power output. Do not assume loose components will connect just because their brand names match; identify the system version and ask support about the exact combination.
Before choosing a kit
- Match the set number. Compare versions intended for the same LEGO model.
- Open the installation guide. Look at the connections and the sections of the model you will need to access.
- Check power separately. The FAQ says USB and battery options vary by kit. Follow the specific kit’s power requirements; do not assume a power supply is included.
- Compare the illuminated areas. Decide which parts of your own display you want lit, using that exact kit’s photos or video.
- Compare the complete cost. Include required power parts, controls and delivery, rather than the kit price alone.
